🌿 Trauma & Somatic Therapy in Auckland
Individual Psychotherapy | Devonport, North Shore & Online NZ-Wide
Come Back to Yourself
Sometimes talk alone isn’t enough. When stress, trauma, anxiety or burnout feel stuck in the body, the nervous system needs a different kind of attention.
At Corsana Therapy, I offer long-term, depth-oriented therapy that works with the body, not just the mind. Based in Devonport and working across Auckland and NZ, I help individuals move through patterns of overwhelm, disconnection, and emotional looping — into clarity, resilience, and self-trust.
What Is Somatic Therapy?
“Somatic” means body. Somatic therapy involves paying attention to what your nervous system, posture, breath, and sensations are doing — not just your thoughts.
When experiences are too much, too fast, or too soon, they can’t be processed in the moment — and the body holds onto them. You may feel:
Chronically anxious or frozen
Disconnected from yourself or others
Caught in survival responses (fight/flight/freeze)
Overwhelmed by small triggers or emotional flashbacks
Numb, checked out, or "performing" to get by
Somatic psychotherapy helps restore regulation, so that your system learns safety, rest, and connection again.
A Trauma-Informed, Depth-Oriented Approach
I'm Simon Banks — a registered psychotherapist offering trauma-sensitive individual therapy. I work with:
Complex/developmental trauma (not just shock trauma)
Nervous system dysregulation
Identity & shame
Anxiety, burnout, and relational difficulties
Grief and transition
Boundaries, consent, and self-worth
I use a blend of:
Somatic Experiencing-inspired work (body and sensation-focused)
Attachment theory (how early experiences shape our patterns)
Talk therapy when needed, always with care for pacing
Presence, attunement, and long-term consistency — not symptom-chasing or fast fixes
Addiction - cunning, baffling, powerful and patient - that’s the addictive process
This is a space for unravelling old patterns and finding your own rhythm again.
Who I Work With
I work with adults who may relate to:
Growing up in emotionally chaotic or neglectful environments
Feeling “functional” on the outside, but anxious or numb underneath
Repeating relationship patterns you don’t understand
Hyper-independence or people-pleasing
A nervous system that feels constantly “on edge” or collapsed
Seeking therapy that meets both mind and body
You don’t need a diagnosis. Just a sense that you’re ready for something deeper.
